Charitable Opportunity!

I received this notice from a friend that lives one town over…

“Hey, my neighbors (family of my young son’s on-again-off-again “girlfriend”) just got robbed. The creep took their computer (computer has been replaced by my husband), their camera, all the Christmas presents. They have three kids: a four-year-old boy, a second-grade girl (~6), and a teen-aged girl (~15). If anyone wants to donate anything to help this family, please contact me!! Anything at all is appreciated and no kids should be without at the holidays.”

This could be a chance to make a real difference in someone’s life. If you want to help please contact me and I will get the address for where to send any and all items you want to send.

Where the Wild Things Are

Went to see Where the Wild Things Are and I must give an honest review. The puppetry, by Jim Henson, was per usual, AWESOME, computer graphics were so good I couldn't see the difference between the CG and the actual live action puppetry, that's pretty good in my book. The character Max was presented fantastically by the actor. Had a great time with Addie and Christopher watching this movie. Now for the bad news, I didn't like it. I was greatly disappointed. The plot line was very odd and disjointed. There were two curse words, which greatly bothered me. They were simply unnecessary. I was never transported back to a childlike feeling during the movie. I began to, while Max was leaving this world to go to where the wild things are, but once he arrived and started to interact with them, it just didn't do it for me. Addie liked it, Christopher was entertained, but it really lacked some sort of ability to carry the viewer along for the ride. I felt like I was watching this happen not going thru it myself. I do hope that everyone else likes it and enjoys seeing it and I would love to know what you all thought about it....

More than just cake

My friend is getting married this October and her wedding party is today. I wrote this on a recipe card in place of giving her a regular recipe to try.

More than just cake...
Serves: 2
Cooking Time : A Lifetime
Preheat oven to: Sizzle

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21
Continue to pursue each other for life.
Marriage is 100/100 not 50/50, give 100% of yourself and you'll get 100% in return.
Hug for at least 1 full minute everyday whether you feel like it or not.
Patience Patience Patience Patience Patience Patience Patience.
On Fights: Attack the issue not each other.
Marriage is not mindreading, ask what he/she wants and believe what he/she says.
Take time for yourself.
Find the blessings in your differences.
Say I'm sorry often & mean it.
Don't let life get in the way.
Brag on him, don't nag on him.
Never badmouth your spouse.
Don't ask single friends marriage advice.
Really learn to listen.
Sometimes the best & wisest move is to pull the toilet seat down & not say another word.
Love is not enough, it takes work, lots and lots of work.

Along with this she is getting measuring cup, and a hand knit dishcloth. Hope she likes it...

New Mantra

The woman who starts the race is NOT the same woman who finishes the race.

I want to finish the race. I want to be changed, transformed. I am ready to arrive.

ASL Bellydance Fusion?

I am absolutely amazed at this video I just found!

To think, fusing American Sign Language and Bellydance. This is incredible to me. Both of my worlds fused together, now if only she could knit and take care of a child at the same time I would be blown away! hahahahahaha!

New stuff...

I have some news to share with the world...

Christopher is finally going back to school! The sad yet exciting thing is that we will be moving. We have been offered a great opportunity for him to go to school full time and you had better believe that we are grabbing a hold of it with both hands. So for about 3 years we will be doing nothing but studying and taking tests and classes... I am excited about the upcoming changes and looking forward to the possibility to move back into the north. The school that is on the top of his list is Purdue University in Indiana so that will for sure be a huge move.

I have gotten so obsessed with knitting lately that Christopher has expressed his concern about being addicted to it and Ravelry, but I figure there are lots of things to be addicted to that are much worse, and at least this addiction brings lots of fun new hats and stuff. I have been really focused on designing and hopefully I'll get something published from a knit pattern one day...

Addison has just turned 20 months and is a non stop toddler. She loves Mickey Mouse and The Little Einsteins and Spongebob. She is talking more and just amazes me every day. You say a word to her once and she knows it forever. She is signing more and more, which just makes me giddy. We have our own special language, its fun to sign in front of our family and watch them try to figure out what we are saying to one another.

Speaking of Sign Language, I have been signing alot at church and really look forward to learning new songs and new signs. I can now have a full, well almost full, conversation with our one and only deaf couple at the church. I will be sad to leave this church and the people that I met thru it, but like all things in life, it is all for a reason and I am just praying to be strong enough and confident enough to trust God and go with the flow and see where it takes me... My church has done so much for me in my depression and all other aspects of my life, I am such a better person now because of it.

We had a friend pass away after Christmas. He lived here in Aiken. He was 23 years old, I am doing very well considering how I usually do about this sort of thing. We had to come home almost a week early to attend the funeral and stuff. He had a rupture in his Aorta so there was absolutely nothing that could have been done to prevent this or to fix it when it happened. I learned that whatever you are wanting to do, please do it today and don't wait to tell people how you feel about them. We didn't get to say goodbye before we left for Christmas and that makes me very sad. I wish that we could have. But I don't want to be full of regrets, so I just want to tell everyone that I love, that I do in fact love them and value them as a person...

Well that is about all that is new with this house...
For now...
