Farewell

My family and I will be departing in just a short 8 hours or so, for the icy tundra in Illinois... I will be spending all my time with family and friends from my hometown. I have lots to work on while I am away, 2.5 pairs of socks (2 are for me!) and a circle shrug that I have been wanting to make for a long long time. Finally a knit sweater. Plus the best thing about all of these projects, they have NO TIMELINE. No deadline to finish them, that means relaxing, enjoyable knitting... WOW! My Christmas celebrations will begin on Tuesday December 23 and will end on Saturday December 27, that is one packed week of events. Be careful to all of those that will be traveling to and from family events over the next couple of weeks. I wish a happy Christmas to you all.

Bettie Page passes away

Taken from The Official Bettie Page Website...

Los Angeles, December 11, 2008 – Bettie Page, sweet-smiling legendary 1950s pin-up queen with the killer curves and coal-black bangs, died today of pneumonia at a Los Angeles area hospital. She was 85 years old. She suffered a heart attack one week ago and never regained consciousness. Her popularity as an underground, guilty pleasures phenomenon has continued to soar despite the fact that the reclusive Page disappeared almost a half century ago, leading many to believe that one of the most photographed individuals of the 20th century was already dead.

As the model who many have argued raised cheesecake to an art, Page combined exuberant, wide-eyed innocence with confident, sometimes aggressive sexuality. VANITY FAIR praised the playfully seductive Page as “our Uber-pin-up.” The NEW YORK TIMES has declared that today “her star shines more brightly than it did in her brief heyday from 1950 to 1957.” PLAYBOY immortalized Page as one of its inaugural centerfolds and recently named her “the model of the century, yet she remains one of its best kept secrets.” In a recent TVGuide.com poll, Bettie Page was voted the “ultimate sex goddess,” outscoring others such as Marilyn Monroe.

New Developments

Well it is about time I get back on here. I'm not too good at this Blogging thing. So please just bear with me. The last time I wrote I spoke about possibly moving to a new apartment, well we decided against it, the overall "savings" just weren't worth the hassle.

But new developments have come to the surface. My hubby, Christopher has always spoke about going back to school, and finally he has chosen to tackle the school stuff. Right now he just has to focus and study for his GRE test and then go thru all the admissions stuff. The biggest change that will take place is that we will be moving. We will be leaving anywhere between 6 months to 1.5 years depending upon when he gets in and where we choose to go. My overall feeling about this is bitter sweet. I am so excited about the possibility about moving somewhere new. Don't get me wrong, I love Aiken, South Carolina, and I love the south, but the anticipation of going somewhere new is just so exhilarating.

The biggest things that I will miss is obviously my friends, but also I have developed a very close friendship with the Local Yarn Store Owner, it is because she opened up her shop, The Sassy Knitter, that I got so obsessed with knitting. Plus I have finally after all these years, found a church that I relate to. I look forward to going to church every week, especially now that I am involved with the Deaf Ministry. I will really miss signing in front of the Congregation and I hope that all the sign language knowledge that I have learned lately will stick with me and I won't forget it all. The key is that I must find deaf people to interact with, but I tell you what they are not that easy to find, it's not like they wear a sign around their neck, trust me!

All of the positive things that I can imagine though are just so exciting. Maybe I will find a huge community of deaf people and maybe even find a deaf child for Addison to interact with, she is learning so many signs and so fast too. Perhaps I'll even be able to really focus on designing more crochet and knitting patterns. The hardest part will be finding a church and new friends, but I am sure that eventually it will all work out for the best. I am so excited about the new developments in my little world. Be on the look out, Later today I will be posting a new knitting pattern, my first, it isn't my design but I did tweak it alot so it will be mine in the end but I wouldn't put a copyright on it, just don't seem right to me.

Well, I will do my best to keep you all posted on what is going to happen as it all happens...

Many decisions

I have a big decision to make. We have found a new place to live. It will save us money, it is surrounded by trees instead of irritating neighbors and cars. It provides a very large yard with bunnies to play in. It has 2 full bathrooms instead of just 1.5. Washer and Dryer in garage. Garage for storage. Bathtub is bigger than the one we have now. The kitchen is such a step up, which is a HUGE plus for me. When we watch our friends dog, she can actually move in with us for the weekend. The bedrooms are smaller. There is no central air or heat, but there are 3 air conditioners, and space heaters available. It is very isolated. We will be farther from Aiken, but closer to North Augusta, and close to Augusta also. Am I crazy to be thinking about this. Do I really want to live in the "country"? Doing this will get us closer to being debt free and allow us to save up to one day purchase an actual home. This is my biggest draw to the apartment. I want to have an actual real home that is all mine one day. Let me know what you think. Thanks....

Candi

ETA: I forgot to mention one of the biggest cons of all. It is behind a business and stinks most days. Inside it doesnt smell, but if we wanted to eat on the deck we would be smelling rats and mice. My friend that is offering this property to us breeds them for feed for snakes and reptiles. So if I can deal with the stinky stuff then It is worth it, but do I really want to deal with that...

Long time Lots o' changes

Let's see so far today I have accomplished making snicker doodles and I am currently in the process of making my very first loaf of homemade bread sans bread machine. However that is no comparison to what has happened over the last month. In the early part of the month of August the family and I made a trip to visit hubby's sister and brother in Birmingham. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the time off. Addison learned how to walk and chase the dog while we were there! We watched the Olympics as I participated in the Ravelympics. We loved watching Micheal Phelps conquer all this events and I finished most of my projects for the Ravelympics in time to get 3 medals. I would have finished more but in the midst of the Ravelympics I received news that my uncle had passed away. I was able to get to my hometown in time to comfort my family.

Once we arrived back home we had some financial issues pop up unexpected, don't you HATE that!? Well that really brings us up to the present day. Christopher has started his 3rd job, yup that's right, 3 jobs! We now have only 1 night a week that we are both not busy, so we will really have to be sure that it stays open just for family time.

And now back to the bread! I have really enjoyed myself so far. It felt really good to be making something with my own two hands that would feed my family. It was remarkably easier than I expected it to be. I encourage everyone out there, if you have never made bread from scratch for your family, don't wait another minute, go out get all the ingredients, of which are only about 5 total ingredient, and make it right this minute! I started at 8 this morning and I am very close to putting it in the oven for 40 minutes and it will be finished! I am amazed that it really doesnt take all day like I thought that it would. I am enjoying this new skill that hopefully I have and will grow and grow. I hope it comes out of the oven ok, I will have to let you all know how it all goes when I get to that point. But for now I am going to sign off and enjoy the next 20 minutes just sitting in one spot working on my Hairpin Lace Scarf while Addie finishes up her nap, have a wonderful day!!!!

SlyDial

Ok, I have just learned of this thing called SlyDial.

Now, all I keep hearing about this is how it is the cowards way of contacting people. Personally I am sooo excited about it. I have been looking for something like this for soooo long. You see, my husband works at schools all day. He keeps his phone on all day long because thats how he and is coworkers have to contact each other thru out the day, which is necessary for his job.
There are times when I want to leave him a message, for instance, get supper before you come home, get diapers, get milk, or a simple I love you or Addie wants to say hi ; these are all just to help me out or to brighten his day. I love this new Technology. Yay!

Kool Aid

With inspiration from my friend Jeannie I decided to try my hand at Kool Aid dying. Don't those colors look divine? I am so excited that this worked out so well. The colors did not turn out quite as even as I expected, but I really like it that way. I am looking forward to dying some sock yarn in orange, that color was just beautiful!

Here is a picture of my finished socks. I am so proud of them!

Well, I have to go, Addie isn't feeling so well, and I have to figure out supper... And speaking of supper, check out this blog....

Wow, It's July

I am always amazed at how fast the time really goes. Well, over the past week and a half my mom-in-law came to visit. It was so great to have her here. Addie just loves it when Grandma visits. She gets to spend lots of quality time while mommy and daddy get to go and eat. Well, when that night came, we wanted to go out for our anniversary a few weeks late. While getting ready we got a call from some friends wanting us to go eat with them, so we said sure! Come to find out they had recently gotten engaged and wanted to share the news with us first hand. Good God is her ring beautiful! It is so big and shinny. Of course I would never trade mine in but wow, he did a great job picking this out. He took is Mom to help him decide. He did very good.

Well, on to the rest of the week, we went to the zoo. It was Addison's first trip and all she did was bark at all the animals whether they were barking or not. She enjoyed to bird exhibit especially the Lorikeets, you know where you feed them from a cup? I thought that she would be scarred, and she did jump a bit when they flew past but over all she did great!

When Grandma's visit came to an end she was quite sad. When I asked her if she missed Grandma she rolled her hands, like you do in Pat-a-cake, Grandma and her always played that, it made me cry.

Ok, now onto the fiber stuff!

I finished my first sock. I started on my second and had to redo it about 4 times. I just wasn't paying attention and kept forgetting to do the rib pattern, I kept knitting it. So I have casted on one more time and so far so good. I am paying more attention and hoping that I won't have to rip out and start again.

I also finally picked up my previous project of the Hairpin Lace Cardi Wrap. I am doing the Hairpin Lace version. I got frustrated with it a while back and decided to take a break from it. But now I am back at it, getting past the frustrating part and beginning on the sleeves. It will be done in no time at all. Plus I have all but finished Addie's Tank, just have to add the ties and I will be finished. I am so happy to have all these projects wrapped up. Just a few more projects to complete and I will be so happy!

May you all complete those things that you wish to have done!

Something new just popped up!

Well, I have been spending my afternoon working on the cuffs of my first knitted socks. I am loving this new skill I have learned. So far everything has gone really really well. I took a break and to spend some time playing in the floor with my daughter and low and behold she has two new teeth coming in. She is now a 6 tooth baby! Add that to the walking and she will soon be a walking teeth gnashing monster! Yay, I can't wait!

She's Walking!

Well mostly, she is trying over and over and over taking many steps before falling down. I am considering this walking! I am one proud Momma! She has the biggest smile on her face the whole time, she's so proud of herself!

First post ever

Welcome to my first ever post! I have alot going on in my life all the time, I seem to never just relax. This is my corner of the world where I can keep track of what I am doing and what I need to be doing and such, just another thing to keep me busy. I will try to update this page often, but with a daughter under 2 years it could be a bit of a challenge. Stay tuned I have crochet patterns coming and hopefully one day soon I will have knitting patterns as well.

Yesterday was my Anniversary, take your sweetie out this weekend to celebrate your love in our honor!
